About
A Yen for Tokyo is a guide for fans of (primarily) manga, doujinshi and character goods, who plan on visiting Tokyo to purchase these items straight from the source. The focus is on visiting, staying and acquiring items as inexpensively as possible.
Not everyone is concerned about money, and there is something to be said that when on holiday, “Why not treat myself?”, but I don’t believe in spending money foolishly when it could be spent on more manga or doujinshi.
This guide is aimed at a BL/yaoi fan audience, but regular Otaku may find something of interest herein as well.
Please take from this guide what you will. Do not hesitate to comment or write me if you have information that would be useful here. The more knowledge we have, the more empowered we will be when buying vast quantities of what we all love so much.
This is certainly not the only such guide out there. There are many others, and I don’t wish to reinvent the wheel, but what I found lacking when I was performing research on the Internet in 2006, were photos and pictures of key areas, as well having relevant travel information all in one area. If you know of other guides that I could link to, please also let me know or join this blog and post about them.
Contribute! Yes, you can join this blog and contribute your own experiences, articles etc. as they relate to buying manga, doujinshi etc. straight from the source! Everyone can benefit from everyone else’s experience. And I will begin posting articles and missives regarding my own experiences in more detail than really is required in the pages of the guide itself, so if you have a yen for Tokyo, please do check back for more fun.
Happy Planning!
